Mawa Peda Recipe
|Ingredients:
- Mava- 100 gms
- Sugar- 70-80 gms
- Ilaichi/Cardamom
- Food Colour
- Desiccated Coconut Powder/ Nariyal ka Bhoora
Take mava in a wok or pan and crush it a little. If it was kept in fridge then keep it aside for around 1 hour so that it comes to its original state and texture. Roast mawa in a pan on low flame until it turns light golden.
Add a small pinch of food colour to mawa and mix well. Knead mava properly to break all the lumps. Now crush ilaichi with the help of a mortar & pestle (okhali). Add sugar in it, however make sure mawa is not cooled down completely while adding sugar otherwise sugar will not melt with mawa.
One more alternative way of adding sugar in mawa is by making sugar syrup and adding it to mawa. For making sugar syrup, add one cup of water in a pan and add sugar in it, boil on medium flame for 12-15 minutes. This way is more prominent as it eases the process of making round balls without any cracks in it.
Make small balls of the mawa mixed with either sugar syrup (or sugar powder) and ilaichi.
Now take some dessicated coconut powder/ nariyal ka bhoora in a plate and make roll your peda balls all around and this powder will stick to the surface. You can also add a half cup almond or cashew on top of your peda.
And your mawa peda is ready to serve.
